Food intolerance is the rejection reaction produced by the immune system when it comes into contact with certain components of food to which it should not be exposed. The absorption of these components results in the production of IgG antibodies by the immune system.
Possible symptoms of food intolerance are as follows:
- Headache or stomachache
- Chronic fatigue
- Skin problems
- Inflammation of the joints
The test is based on a simple blood test and is used to determine how the patient’s antibodies react to certain proteins present in food. Later, interpretation of the results by medical experts will help you understand which diet is best for maintaining your health at its best.
When talking about food allergies, it is important to understand the difference between allergies and food intolerances.
- IgE food allergy: an obvious pathology in which a food component triggers an immediate reaction, such as diarrhea, edema, hives, etc.
- IgG-type food intolerance: It is more difficult to detect and its symptoms are usually moderate, so it is common for us not to notice this intolerance and to go back to eating foods that are harmful to us and make us sick. That is why it is so important to perform such tests.
