It is necessary to go with an empty stomach for the extraction of blood. No previous appointment is necessary, the extractions are made from 8:00h – 10:30h from Monday to Friday (children under 5 years old, please consult in advance).

The urine sample must be the first of the day and must be collected in a sterile container that can be purchased at pharmacies. Always avoid the first and last stream to rule out contamination of the urinary tract. 

The results are delivered after 24 hours.

The general analysis allows the evaluation of the fundamental values of the organism to guarantee good health at a general level. It can be useful to detect deficiencies that the patient does not notice in his body. It is recommended to be done at least once a year to know the state of health.

This analysis focuses on the following parameters:

  • The hemogram is an analysis of all the components of the blood: hemoglobin, red cells or red blood cells, white cells or leukocytes, platelets, etc. It serves to determine if the concentrations of each component are adequate and thus rule out multiple diseases.
  • Glucose, also called glycemia or blood sugar. Useful in the detection and control of diabetes.
  • Urea is a substance that is formed in the body during the processing of proteins and nitrogen compounds in the liver, which we usually excrete through urine and sweat. If it is not eliminated properly, levels rise above normal, causing uremia, which becomes problematic for health, affecting mainly the liver and kidneys.
  • Creatinine is an indicator of kidney function that alerts us if the kidneys are functioning incorrectly. When there is kidney damage the creatinine concentration is elevated. As it is a waste substance that the kidneys must filter and expel through the urine, its presence in elevated levels means that a malfunctioning of the kidneys is taking place.
  • Uric acid is a waste substance in our body, and its high concentration may be due to multiple factors and, in turn, be the cause of various diseases. The best known is gout, but it can also produce kidney damage or arthritis.
  • Total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol). These are the fats present in the blood. Its control is very important to assess cardiovascular risk and act accordingly in time.
  • Triglycerides are fats that we ingest with some foods and that are also produced by our liver, and are stored as reserves in the fat cells to be used when energy is needed. When levels are high, they represent a cardiovascular risk factor.
  • GOT and GPT. They are the most important transaminases. If their values are altered, they indicate an inflammation of the liver or a malfunctioning of the liver due to multiple causes of varying severity: ingestion of toxic substances, hepatitis, cirrhosis, etc.
  • GGT is a liver enzyme that indicates possible damage to the liver, pancreas or bile ducts.
  • The sideremia is the amount of iron circulating in the blood, although this parameter does not provide information on the iron reserves stored in the body. A low sideremia indicates a possible iron deficiency anemia.
  • Complete with urine. This involves analysing a urine sample to identify possible alterations that may be indicative of a disease. The pH is observed and the presence of acetone, proteins, blood, leukocytes, crystals and bacteria is looked for, and the cells present in the sample are checked for normality.
