HOMA test (insulin resistance)

It is necessary to go with an empty stomach for the extraction of blood. No previous appointment is necessary, the extractions are made from 8:00h – 10:30h from Monday to Friday.

The results are delivered after 3 days.

It is a tool to predict the risk of progression to diabetes and/or metabolic syndrome and eventually to reduce that risk with interventions such as diet modification, increased exercise, or medication.

Normally, when HOMA values are higher than reference values, it means that there is insulin resistance or that there is a malfunctioning of the cells of the pancreas, which is an important organ in the regulation of blood sugars due to the production of insulin and glucagon.
